GEMS Researchers Represent 9 papers at IEEE IGARSS 2026 in Washington, D.C.

From August 9–14, 2026, researchers from the GEMS Institute at North Carolina A&T State University participated in the 2026 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) in Washington, D.C. GEMS researchers contributed to nine research papers covering key areas of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, GeoAI, Earth Observation, and Remote Sensing.

GEMS was represented at IGARSS 2026 by Tewodros Syum Gebre, Jagrati Talreja, Gazali Agboola, Eden T. Wasehun, Jeffrey Blay, Matilda Anokye, Timothy Agboada, Yadav Raj Ghimire, and Shikha V. Chandel, with research conducted under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Leila Hashemi-Beni, Director of the GEMS Institute. Participation in the IEEE conference provided the team with an opportunity to present their research to the international geoscience community, exchange ideas with researchers from around the world, explore emerging developments in GeoAI and remote sensing, and develop connections for future research collaborations. The GEMS Institute congratulates its researchers for representing North Carolina A&T State University and advancing research at the intersection of AI, remote sensing, and geospatial science.
